Campaign Goal: $

Our Commitment to Community

Dear Legal & General America colleagues,

I am so very honored to serve as your 2022 LGA charity campaign chairperson. Our amazingly talented group of committee members are eager and excited to bring our LGA family an engaging campaign scheduled for October 17 – 28th, with the kick-off meeting planned for Friday, October 14, 2022.    The LGA family has a long and impressive history of selfless giving and we hope to continue that tradition with our campaign this year! Consistent with the last two years, the majority of our campaign events will be virtual, with several in-person activities targeted for Wednesdays and Thursdays.

While we all enjoy the fun and games of our charity activities, the most impactful way we raise money for charity every year is through Salary Pledges. We hope that you will choose to renew your existing pledge or start a new one for 2023. Below is a few things you should know about Salary Pledging:

  1. Setting up a Payroll Deduction Pledge or One time donation via the America’s Charities portal is easy.
  2. You can choose to pledge to a variety of great 501(c) non-profits charities, so you truly can choose to support causes important to you.
  3. You can pledge whatever you can. We hope you might pledge $5 per paycheck (equivalent to $130/year) or more.
  4. LGA matches all the funds raised through our staff pledges, so you contributions are doubled. How great is that?!
  5. The generous pledges from our staff, plus the matching contributions from LGA are how we can raise so much money for charity each year.

Our theme for this year’s campaign is Helping Hands, Making a Difference, with the slogan, Your Help.  Their Tomorrow.  The campaign was inspired, in part, by our Chief Underwriter, Zach Pugh’s feature in Forbes Advisor’s “Life Insurance For Cancer Patients and Survivors” article discussing the impact of personal history of cancer has on one’s life insurance application consideration.   In aligning our theme and inspiration, we have selected the below featured charities to represent:

  • CureSearch for Children’s Cancer Research, located in Bethesda, Maryland. CureSearch supports research efforts to improve treatments and find cures for children’s cancer.  Their funds research teams across the country studying more than 13 types of cancer in children, adolescents, and young adults with the goal of improving current treatments, developing new therapies, and understanding the biology of more pediatric cancer disease types.  As the preeminent life insurance provider, charitable support of CureSearch aligns with our mission.
  • Poplar Spring Animal Sanctuary, located in Poolesville, Maryland. Poplar Spring Animal Sanctuary is a 430-acre refuge for abused and abandoned farm animals and wildlife.  They rely entirely on public donations for support. Polar Spring’s mission is to provide care, rehabilitation, and permanent sanctuary for neglected, abused, or abandoned farm animals, as well as providing a protected habitat for wildlife. The sanctuary promotes compassion and the humane treatment of all animals by educating the public on farm animal and wildlife issues.
  • The ALS Association, Connecticut Chapter supports people living with ALS and their loved ones through services and education. We leave no stone unturned in search for the cure of this progressive neurodegenerative disease.

At LGA, we are proud to stand with our featured charities and hope that you will share your kind and generous support by starting a new salary pledge, renewing your existing salary pledge, or increasing your existing salary pledge, while actively participating in the many activities planned for your enjoyment.

With deep appreciation,

Your 2022 Charity Campaign Committee

Sharon Peterson Jenkins, Campaign Chair
